Clinton, Tennessee to Gainesville, Florida


550 miles almost entirely on I-75 made for a dull day of driving, but the temperature rose 40 degrees in nine hours, so it was well worth it! The scenery went from boring to exotic as soon as we reached the Florida Welcome Center, just across the Georgia-Florida line. Palm trees! Yay!

We rented a room for two nights at the Gator Town Inn on the south side of Gainesville, an older style, non-chain motel with very few amenities but everything we needed. With the bikes, we were traveling with so much extra gear, it was nice to be able to park right outside the door.

Dinner was had at La Tienda Latina, just a mile down the road, a basic counter-serve Mexican diner with delicious food for a good price. We chowed down a couple of enormous burritos, then picked up some beer and hard cider at the local Winn Dixie before returning to the motel for the night.
