Knoxville, Tennessee to Newport, Rhode Island

I just finished a series of high-stress depositions, and the discovery deadline is over! So Tom and I cashed in some Delta SkyMiles and fled for New England. Leaving Knoxville at 11:25 a.m., we flew through Detroit and arrived at Boston Logan Airport at 5:30 p.m.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car was busy but efficient. It didn't take us long to pick up a little gray Ford Fiesta. Soon we were on our way to Newport, Rhode Island, about 45 minutes to the south. Unfortunately, we did a poor job of checking for damage before we left. We were halfway to Newport before I noticed the passenger-side rear-view mirror had a large crack running through it. Nuts! I hope we don't end up having to pay for that sucker.

We spent our first vacation night at a Motel 6, nicely situated across the street from Newport Adults Only Video. But for $58 right in Newport, I'm not complaining. It wasn't bad for a 6.

Coddington Brewing Company was just up the road. Tom and I shared a beer sampler, because we couldn't decide between the Golden Ale, Blueberry Ale, IPA, Pumpkin Ale, Scottish Heavy, and Oatmeal Stout. FYI: The Golden Ale is the best! Tom got a TexMex burger, and I went for the clam chowder, something I'd never order at home in either landlocked Tennessee or Oklahoma. Yum! More chowder, please!
