We arrived in Atlanta a few minutes earlier than the scheduled
time of 8:00 a.m., where they made us go through security again. We
picked up our checked luggage and went through customs and
immigration. Then they x-rayed our carry-ons, and we had to check
our bags again and pick them up at the other end of the airport. I
didn't get that at all. First of all, I don't know what contraband
they think we might have picked up between the other airport and
here. Second of all, after we'd already cleared customs, I fail to
see the logic of having us check our luggage to another place in
the airport. Unlike Peru, the security people here were pretty
rude. At least they're underpaid.
After picking up the checked luggage AGAIN, we took MARTA back
to College Station and got my truck. It was quite a ransom to get
the vehicle after three weeks, and the parking lot attendant said
"Holy shit! I hope you had a good time." Yesterday we were on the
beach in Peru and got a sunburn. In Atlanta it was colder than heck
and raining like crazy. But we made it home! I was racing up I-75
to get to the kennel before it closed to pick up little Spike. He
was glad to see us.
