Santiago and the flight home

Our flight wasn't leaving until 11:20 p.m., so we still had most of the day free to explore. Since there was no hurry, we enjoyed our comfy room all the way up to a 2:00 p.m. late checkout. Nice! The Hyatt then held our bags until it was time to head to the airport.

We took the metro to Los Dominicos station, at the eastern end of the red line. There's a big arts and crafts market there, Centro Artesanal Los Dominicos, and we spent a few hours wandering through the various stalls. They had some cool stuff, but though we had some moderate interest in picking up a souvenir, we left empty-handed.

The crafts market is located in the foothills of the mountains surrounding Santiago. When we were finished at the market, we walked uphill to a nearby park and mirador.

Around 6:00, we returned to the Hyatt and had a couple of happy hour beers out on their nice patio before retrieving our luggage and catching an Uber to the airport.

Hasta luego, Chile!

Our overnight flight from Santiago to Atlanta and subsequent connecting flight to Knoxville were both on time and uneventful. I even managed to get through the Atlanta airport without getting yelled at by any ill-tempered security worker for once. Woohoo! Tom's mom picked us up at the Knoxville airport just after 10:00 a.m. and brought us back to our car, which had been parked at her house all this time. Thanks, Linda!

It was a fantastic trip!!!
