Greenville, SC to Brunswick, GA

Midway along our drive today, we stopped in Bowman, South Carolina, home of the world's only (as far as I know) UFO Welcome Center. It seems that the owner of this edifice has been waiting to welcome UFOs for quite some time, as the building is in quite a state of disrepair. I'm glad we got to see it while it's still standing. Those aliens better hurry!

Golden Isles, Georgia, Welcome Center

Around 4:30, we rolled up to the “Cozy Golden Isles Riverview Apartment,” our airbnb for the next four nights. The location was great, right on the Turtle River, shortly before it empties into St. Simons Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. It's about a 20-minute drive from both Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island and 12 minutes from downtown Brunswick, and there's a nice half-mile walking path along the river right outside our door.

Southern charm

Waterfront lodging

Prepared for an emergency

It's rare for us to stay in one location this long – four whole nights – so we wanted somewhere we could spread out, and this apartment had lots of room. The décor was a little grandma style, but I thought it was charming. Very comfy.

Spacious lodging

Bonus massage chair!

The closest restaurant to our place was Fish Tails Pub and Grill, five miles towards Jekyll. It was great! I ate my fill of shrimp and sirloin, while Tom had a big ole burger. The beer selection was meh, but this is to be expected in Georgia. We each had a local craft IPA, which was acceptable. I wouldn't mind coming here again!

Great place!
