Warsaw, Missouri to Hayti, Missouri
Highlights: Swinging Bridges of Brumley, Fort Leonard Wood Fire Tower, and Uranus
In Brumley, Missouri, we felt compelled to seek out some swinging bridges. They turned out to be quite sketchy, one with frayed wires and the second one with a corrugated metal deck not adequately fastened to the frame. After traveling several miles down a terrible gravel road to get there, there was nothing to do but drive across the damn things. The loose metal flopped around frighteningly when we crossed the second bridge. Excitement and adventure!

Uranus is a not-to-be-missed souvenir shop and fudge factory on Historic Route 66 in St. Robert, Missouri. We couldn't possibly pass through Uranus without taking a closer look. We explored every nook and cranny of Uranus, enjoying it greatly. We even had a picnic in Uranus before we left. Uranus was unforgettable - I'm sure glad we picked it!
Of course, we had to see Uranus

I climbed the Fort Leonard Wood Fire Tower (near Uranus), while Tom sat this one out. The box at the very top was blocked off, but I went as far as I could go. Then we took a nice, curvy drive south on Highway 19 through the Mark Twain National Forest.
