Last spring, we took a trip to the northeastern US in which we visited the highest point of nine states plus the District of Columbia. With time running short, we'd been forced to skip New York's Mount Marcy, which would require a three-day siege. That omission had been bugging us ever since. So a year and a half later, we returned to the northeast to bag that region's final peak!
With our successful summit of Mount Marcy, we have now visited 35 state high points, including every high point east of the Mississippi River. You can see them here
Jana and Tom in the Adirondacks
In addition to Mount Marcy in New York's Adirondack Mountains, other stops include Pittsburgh, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, the Erie Canal, Lake Placid, Lake Champlain, Lake George, Seneca Lake, Watkins Glen State Park, Kinzua Bridge State Park, and miscellaneous awesome oddities. We also met up with Tom's nephew, Alex, and his girlfriend, Sarah, who joined us for our second ascent of Vermont's highest point, Mount Mansfield.
